How do I get my motorbike licence?
Complete your Basic Handling Skills Assessment
Sit your Motorcycle Theory test at a licensing agent (AA or VTNZ) - 35 questions, 25 general, 10 motorcycle specific, must get 32/35 correct
Learners to Restricted - there is no waiting period with Revs. To be eligible to sit your restricted with VTNZ testing officers, you must wait 6 months
Restricted to Full - with Revs you can complete your practical assessment ride at 9 months and receive your full licence at 12 months. With VTNZ you must wait 18 months.
Learners' motorcycle licence (6L)
The first step of your licence journey is to complete your Basic Handling Certificate which consists of four stages

linking figures of eight
increased speed and emergency stop
New/Returning Rider Course - $299
If you are new to riding or not confident with manual gears
2 hours training including the assessment, if you are ready.
Experienced Rider Course - $199
If you can ride already, we make sure your skills are up to scratch to attempt the assessment.
1 hour including assessment - if you are ready.
Both options include the use of a Suzuki GN125 or Yamaha YS125
We have helmets and gloves available to use - free of charge

The BHS assessment consists of four stages:
Basic turn and stop
Figure of eight and park
Linking figures of eight
Increased speed and emergency stop
Each stage has various tasks
In each stage you will:
Move off
Straight ride
Corner
Stop
Park
Each task has assessment items
This is what we will assess you on:
Looking in the correct direction
Signaling correctly
Making head checks before changing position
Lateral position of motorcycle
Control of motorcycle
Using appropriate speed
Parking observation
Parking movement.
You will need to bring:
Photo ID (car licence is ideal, passport, firearms licence, Kiwi Access card)
Long trousers
Long sleeved jacket that is front fastening
Gloves (we can supply a pair)
Sturdy footwear
Wet weather gear if necessary
Helmet (we can supply one)
